Presenter: Nigel Vidler, Canadian Red Cross

The Emergency Preparedness for Older Adults session will focus on why it is important to be prepared in case of an emergency, some of the barriers faced by older adults to prepare, and a number of recommendations on how to promote emergency preparedness among older adults. In addition, this presentation will highlight some of the work done by the Canadian Red Cross in this field. 

Nigel Vidler is a Senior Coordinator with the Canadian Red Cross’ Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Program, where he oversees a variety of projects aimed at increasing resilience to disasters resulting from natural hazards. Nigel has five years experience with the Canadian Red Cross and has worked across a number of different recovery operations in support of community recovery and capacity building projects. Nigel is passionate about community-based risk reduction and supporting Canadians to increase their resilience to climate change.
